This dropped .58 caliber three piece Shaler civil war bullet was recovered from the fields surrounding the site of the Battle of Brandy Station, VA. The Shaler three piece bullet is by far one of the most interesting bullets from the Civil War. It was invented by Reuben Shaler and patented on August 12, 1862. When fired, the three sections would spread apart allowing for more impact points on its designated target. This bullet is a fine example and will make an excellent addition to any Civil War excavated bullet or general relic collection.
We recently acquired several of these bullets from a local hunter. Although found on the same piece of property, only the two bottom sections were found in the same hole. They were found on private property with the owner's permission. The winning bidder will receive the bullet shown in the pictures. All of our items are guaranteed to be authentic.
